Thomas Watson
Tom Watson joined the Peoria law firm of Cusack, Gilfillan & O’Day, LLC in 2008. Prior to 2008, Tom worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney prosecuting criminal cases ranging from traffic infractions to felonies. Tom graduated from St. Ambrose University, with honors, earning degrees in Political Science and Philosophy. He received a degree of Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
His practice is concentrated on representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases arising from medical/professional malpractice, automobile collisions, premises liability, nursing home negligence, and wrongful death claims.
Tom is also a vocal advocate for victims of child pornography. Currently, Tom represents a young woman whose childhood images are some of the most frequently downloaded and traded pictures by child predators throughout the world. In this unique representation, Tom works with attorneys from the U.S. Department of Justice in an effort to collect restitution on behalf of his client.
In addition to trying numerous cases to verdict before a jury, Tom has successfully argued cases to both the Illinois Appellate Court and the Illinois Supreme Court. Besides his trial work, he has also spoken at seminars for medical professionals discussing various legal issues that concern the medical field.
Tom is licensed to practice law in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois Bar Association, the Peoria Bar Association, the American Bar Associations, and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Associations.
